High School Glee Club to Appear on Rachael Ray Show Tomorrow

Glee Club members hold up $10,000 check before Staff & Board officers.
Not all Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education Meetings start off this way.  This one was a winner.

Getting ready for their performance in the Wade Building.
Shortly after the opening of the public session last night at the Wade Building in Martinsville, Dr. Len Herman, Supervisor of Fine & Practical Arts (K-12), and Mr. John Wilson, Teacher and Conductor of the Glee Club took their turn at the lectern facing the Board.

Not only did they announce that the Bridgewater-Raritan Glee Club would perform its rendition of “Heartbreaker” for the pleasure of the Board and attendees at last night’s meeting, but they followed up with an enthusiastic statement that famed singer/performer Kristin Chenoweth will be presenting a check for $10,000 on behalf of Tonic.com to the Glee Club.

A large photo op facsimile of the $10,000 check was presented to the Board at last night’s meeting.  It was signed by “Tonic,” which maintains a web site at Tonic.com

Glee Club picks up the pace with "Heartbreaker."
But that’s not all:  Tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. on ABC, the Glee Club will appear on the Rachael Ray Show.  This is the result of an original story about the Glee Club which appeared last year in Bridgewater Patch and which was spotted by one of the show’s producers. John Wilson was then contacted for more information about the Glee Club, and the rest – as they say – is history.

According to Wilson who spoke last night, some of the cash will go to help fix the stage and lighting, while some of it will also go towards competition and fees.

Performers slow the pace a bit in their rendition.
After the glee club students finished their performance in the conference room of the Wade Building last night, Board President, Evan Lerner remarked that it was a “great way to start a Board meeting,” and Superintendent Michael Schilder added that it was “Just fantastic.  I got chills just listening to it.”

All the Board members were happy campers, full of smiles and satisfaction over this event.

A solid performance ends with hands raised as exclamation points.
