Fiorina, Rubio, Christie

Last night, after the second GOP debate at the Reagan Library in Simi California, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer expressed his opinion that Carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio, and Chris Christie were the three best debaters, in that order.

That was no surprise to me, especially concerning Fiorina.  In my post of August 18, 2015, I suggested in closing, to Keep your eyes on Carly Fiorina.  She has a role to play in the upcoming elections.

Poll results from Wednesday evening’s debate were not wholly consistent, but it is clear that Rubio and Christie both have gained momentum.

It is also just as clear that Carly Fiorina was more than a match for Donald Trump.  This woman has spent her entire career rising against the tide up the ranks of what was often a largely male-dominated work environment.

Fortunately, not all guys stood in her way.  At least one executive that I know of helped clear a path as she rose up the ladder.

As for Rubio, he has grit and staying power.  He is well-informed, passionate and unafraid – an excellent role model for immigrants to America and a man with a future, no matter what.

As for Chris Christie:  Well what can I say? I have always admired the man and still do.  I am very happy that he did well last night and expect that he will continue to do so, even if he does not garner the nomination
.
I never liked the personal attacks upon his character that consistently emanated from the editorial pages of the Garden State’s largest circulation newspaper.

Some of the near-hate-filled editorials that appeared regularly helped to taint the product of that newspaper’s  reporting staff which, at times, resulted in follow-the-leader reporting when opinion writing began to pop up here and there into what should have been unbiased, facts- only journalism.

One of the few reporters on that newspaper who, to my recollection, did not follow the unspoken lead of the editorial staff is Steve Strunsky.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the blessings of this unanticipated extension of balmy weather.
