A Precious Holiday Tradition Returns to the Bridgewater Commons Mall

Santa greets all of his kids this season!  (Photo/Bergeron Image.)
It’s back!  Once more this year, the management of the Bridgewater Commons Mall is hosting the presence of two Salvation Army Angel Trees.  On each of these modestly decorated trees are removable tags bearing the wishes of area children, ages about 3 to 12.

I especially like what appears to be a policy change this time around:  No toys!  No electronic stuff!  That may sound like Bah, Humbug, but consider this:  The emphasis is on what these under-privileged kids really need – the basics:  articles of clothing.

Reading the tags, I came across names such as Marc, Shaniya, Meyah, Maria, Carter, Angelina, Jeramyah and dozens of other kids – all of them in need.  Those are just a few of the name tags that I spotted on November 20th.

By now, I hope, they have been removed by some kindly people who have stopped to pay attention, as we all ride upon the growing crescendo of this sometimes crazy season – a time during which it is easy to get things out of balance.

One of the trees is located in the lower level, center court, in the middle of the aisle halfway between California Pizza Kitchen and the huge Santa tree. The other is located outside of Macy’s near the railing at mid-level.

If you are of a mind to help, it’s easy.  Just select one of the tags, take it off the tree, purchase the desired gift indicated and simply bring your unwrapped gift, tag and all, to the Guest Services Desk located on the Second Level, Center Court.

Ages of the kids are shown on the tag, together with specific sizes for the type clothing desired for that individual such as, for example, pajamas, blouses, sweat suits, pants, and gloves, whatever.

If you are in a rush, you don’t even have to buy the item that day.  The best gift of all would be to see all of those tags disappear long before December 25th.
